You know..

...I just bumped our DSL speed yesterday. We'd been using the cheapo 256K and went up to 3000K. Hmm. NOW I see why you all like You Tube - it just used to drive us crazy! Live and learn.

Thank God for the luxuries you now hold.

We can only get dial-up in the country with the blazing top speed of 26k. Your cheapo 256k would be a glorious race horse to us. :P
Still, our humble means still gets us where we need to go.

Emily,

It is one thing I am grateful for: I live in the country, but country that is NEAR enough surburbia to enjoy the benefits of both and the the disadvantages of neither. It's definitely a "best of both worlds" scenario. I hear the cows as I walk to Church in the morning, and yet Borders is but a short 18 minute ride away. I couldn't ask for better living situation given my divided upbringing (raised in the burbs, but with roots firmly planted in the country).

We went from 26.4 kbps dial-up to speedy broadband when we moved upstate. YouTube is both a godsend and a poor use of free time.

Do you have a webcam? Download Skype and we can talk face-to-face for free. Else a microphone works for voice over IP communication.

We visit our in-laws in Wisconsin and my sister & niece in southern Illinois via Skype frequently. It brings the world that much closer.
